Investment thesis
Black Capital is an early-stage fund dedicated to backing black and other underrepresented founders, aiming to build wealth for the black community by democratizing access to venture capital. Noting that less than 2% of capital reaches black founders, the firm seeks to reduce economic inequality and foster financial independence. It invests from pre-seed through Series A in US-based companies, targeting full-time founders with deep domain expertise who have built products with early traction and are addressing pressing problems in billion-dollar-plus markets at attractive valuations. Black Capital is industry agnostic with particular interest in sports tech, edtech, and govtech, and commits over half its capital to black founders.
