Investment thesis
Ann Arbor SPARK drives economic development and prosperity in the southeast Michigan region surrounding Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Backed by funds earmarked by the MEDC with budget oversight from the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti SmartZone Local Development Finance Authority, it invests in early-stage, tech-related startups across idea, startup, growth, and mature stages while helping grow the state's angel investor community. Its SPARK Capital programs, alongside entrepreneur boot camps, startup acceleration, coworking space, coaching, and mentorship, aim to shorten the time founders need to attract capital, talent, and customers. The organization also supports business expansion, site selection, and talent acquisition in the region.
