3i Group

Simon Borrows is Chief Executive of 3i Group, a role he took in May 2012 after joining the firm in October 2011 as Chief Investment Officer. He chairs the Group's Risk, Executive and Investment Committees, as well as the board of Peer Holding I B.V., the holding company for 3i's investment in Action. Before 3i he was Chair of Greenhill & Co International LLP and Co-CEO of Greenhill & Co. Inc., having earlier served as Managing Director of Baring Brothers International; he holds a law degree from London University and an MBA from London Business School.

George Archer joined 3i in 2011 and is a Partner in its Banking Team, with 28 years of banking experience working on financing transactions for many of the firm's current and former portfolio companies. Before 3i, he worked at The Royal Bank of Scotland, Bank of America and Barclays Capital, specializing in leveraged finance and sponsor coverage, and also held roles in leveraged loan syndications and corporate restructuring. He holds a BSc in Biochemistry from Imperial College London, a BSc in Financial Services from UMIST, and an MSc in Operational Research from Strathclyde University.

Gaurav Bhurat joined 3i in 2011 and has worked on both Infrastructure and Private Equity investments. Before 3i, he was at TVS Capital, a mid-market private equity fund, focusing on banking, retail, healthcare and other consumer sectors, and previously worked on European private equity and high yield debt at Goldman Sachs and US small cap public equities at Boston Avenue Capital. He holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Jake Behrman is a Director at 3i Group, which he joined in 2018 in the New York office as part of the Private Equity Healthcare sector coverage team. Before 3i, he was an Associate at Metalmark Capital and an Analyst in the Global Healthcare Investment Banking Group at Morgan Stanley. He holds a degree from the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business.

Paolo Bergamelli is a Director in 3i's Infrastructure team, which he joined in 2015, where he handles origination, execution, and asset management of infrastructure investments. Before 3i, he worked in the investment banking division of UBS advising on infrastructure, transport, and telecom transactions. He holds an MSc in Finance from Bocconi University.

Brita Bergland is an ESG Senior Associate in 3i's Private Equity team, joining the firm in 2024. Before that, she spent four years in PwC's Sustainability practice across Norway, the UK and the Middle East, helping corporates set and implement sustainability strategies and reporting processes, and previously worked as an ESG advisor in Norway's oil and gas sector. She holds a BA from King's College London and an MPhil in International Development from the University of Oxford.

Casper de Bok joined 3i's Benelux Private Equity team in 2021 as a Senior Associate. Before 3i, he completed internships in sell-side M&A at Lincoln International and in mid-market private equity at Avedon Capital Partners. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Delft.

Lorenzo Battaggia is an Associate on the Infrastructure team at 3i, which he joined in September 2023. He handles origination and execution of new European investments and supports portfolio companies. Before 3i, he worked in the Buyout team (Renaissance Partners) at Neuberger Berman in Milan. He holds an MSc in Finance & Private Equity from the London School of Economics and a BSc in Management from the University of Bath.

Markus Abeler joined 3i in May 2023 as a Senior Associate in the Infrastructure team, where he works on deal origination and execution and the management of assets across economic infrastructure. Before 3i, he worked at HSBC in London covering M&A in Transport, Logistics, Infrastructure, and Construction. He holds a BA in Economics from New York University.

Sam Beach is a Senior Associate on 3i's North American Private Equity team, which he joined in 2021 and is based in New York. He was previously an Associate at Windjammer Capital Investors, investing across advanced manufacturing, specialty distribution, and business services, and earlier worked as an Analyst at Harris Williams & Co. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a BS from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce.
