Investment thesis
1921 Ventures invests in early-stage companies tackling Type 1 Diabetes and the diseases that commonly take lives, including cardiovascular, renal, neurodegenerative, and metabolic conditions. The fund backs mission-driven founders building either tech-enabled or biology-driven solutions, with the standard that a company's success should translate into lives saved and meaningful market recognition. It typically provides first money in through select Series A, leading pre-seed and seed rounds and following in later stages. The fund embeds portfolio companies within the global T1D community and vice versa, drawing on a wide network of clinicians, researchers, patients, advocates, and investors. Targeting roughly a €10M fund size, it must deploy at least 70% of capital in the EU.
