Thomas Gadek is co-founder and Executive Chairman of MCAL Therapeutics, Inc., and has held executive roles including CEO and CSO across several biotechnology companies, among them SARcode Bioscience, TearSolutions, and Rogne Bioscience. He worked as a senior scientist in medicinal chemistry at Genentech from 1988 to 2003 and is the inventor of lifitegrast (Xiidra), which received FDA approval in 2016. Gadek holds a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.S. in organic chemistry from MIT, and a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is an author on more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and an inventor on more than 70 issued U.S. patents.
