After graduating from Waseda University, he joined JAFCO and later founded Payment One in 1999, which became GMO Payment Gateway (listed 2005). He founded GMO VenturePartners in 2005 and became a general partner, relocating to Singapore in 2012. Over 20 years he has invested in or helped establish 200+ companies, 22 of which went public. Ranked #1 in Forbes JAPAN's 2023 Japanese venture investor ranking.
