Phil Libin was born in Leningrad in 1972 and moved to the United States as a child. He founded and led Engine 5, a Boston-based internet software company acquired by Vignette Corporation in 2000, and later founded CoreStreet, an identity and credential management company acquired by ActivIdentity in 2009. He served as CEO of Evernote from 2007 to 2015 and then as executive chairman of its board. In September 2015 he joined General Catalyst Partners as a general partner, where he led a fund focused on bots and conversational AI, before stepping back to a senior advisor role in 2017 to build the AI startup studio All Turtles. He currently runs the startup mmhmm and All Turtles, and has become an advocate for hybrid and remote work. He resides in Bentonville, Arkansas.
