Hiroyuki Koizumi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Advanced Energy and the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Tokyo, where he directs the Space Propulsion Laboratory and has developed micro-propulsion systems for the Hodoyoshi-4, PROCYON, AQT-D, and EQUULEUS microsatellites. In 2020 he co-founded the space-propulsion startup Pale Blue Inc. with researchers who earned doctorates in his lab, and serves as its CTO. He previously held an assistant professorship at JAXA's Institute of Space and Astronautical Science from 2007 to 2011, working on the Hayabusa-1 mission, and holds a B.S. from Keio University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo.
