He previously worked in Saudi Aramco's Legal Department (seconded to Aramco Trading Company), in the Energy Practice Group at CMS Cameron McKenna in London, and began his career at Macquarie in Toronto. He holds a BA from McGill University, an LLB (Hons) from City, University of London, and both an LLM in International Business and a JD from Boston University School of Law.
