FGN ABBALab invests in and nurtures early-stage startups, primarily from pre-seed through seed, following on through Series A. Based across Tokyo's DMM.make AKIBA and Fukuoka Growth Next, it backs founders building exciting products and services without restricting itself to a particular sector. The fund has invested in roughly 50 companies and supports them with capital, hands-on mentoring from resident staff at both hubs, and a dedicated intellectual-property strategy function that helps portfolio companies build patent and brand portfolios and develop CIPO capabilities. Its predecessor program ABBALab focused on IoT prototyping and invested in 32 companies.
