BIRAC serves as an industry-academia interface established by the Government of India to stimulate and enhance the research and innovation capabilities of the Indian biotech industry, with a particular focus on start-ups and SMEs. It aims to provide access to risk capital through targeted funding, support technology transfer, IP management and commercialization, and foster affordable innovation in key social sectors. Its overarching goal is to help build a US$100 billion Indian bioeconomy by raising the capabilities of biotech start-ups and small and medium enterprises and ensuring their global competitiveness.
