Investment thesis
BIRAC is a not-for-profit public sector enterprise established by India's Department of Biotechnology to strengthen and empower the emerging biotech enterprise sector. It provides non-dilutive grants, equity funding, incubation support, and mentorship to startups, entrepreneurs, and companies across the ideation-to-commercialization journey. Programmes span early-stage ideation (BIG, SITARE, E-YUVA), translation research (PACE), late-stage support (SBIRI, BIPP), social innovation (SPARSH), and equity schemes such as the SEED Fund, LEAP Fund, BioAngels, and the Fund of Funds AcE. BIRAC also runs national and international partnerships and a network of bio-incubation centers to advance biotechnology research, product commercialization, and affordable innovation for national and global impact.
