Investment thesis
Argosy is a private family foundation that supports people and programs working to improve society, favoring creative and entrepreneurial approaches that help communities become self-sustaining. It pursues systemic problem-solving, replicable solutions, and capacity-building, approaching grants as leveraged investments with defined benchmarks and exit strategies. The foundation emphasizes rigorous research, data and analysis in decision-making, values collaboration, fiscal stewardship and measurable outcomes, and seeks to address needs less likely to be met by governments or public foundations. It does not operate fixed program categories but currently directs most funding toward education, arts and culture, health and human services, and the environment. Argosy does not accept unsolicited proposals; all funding decisions rest with the Trustees.
