Investment thesis
The African Development Bank Group aims to spur sustainable economic development and social progress across Africa, reducing poverty and fostering inclusive, integrated growth. It mobilises resources and delivers financing plus technical expertise to both governments (sovereign operations) and the private sector (non-sovereign operations, without government guarantee). Investment spans energy, agriculture, transport and infrastructure, water and sanitation, health and education, finance and private sector development, and industrialisation and trade, with cross-cutting attention to climate and green growth, gender equality and governance. Its Ten-Year Strategy (2024-2033) and the NAFAD initiative seek to strengthen Africa's financial sovereignty and close the continent's development financing gap.
