Palette

Palette is a Copenhagen, Denmark-based AI software company founded in 2025 that describes itself as building "the OS for AI-native teams." Its shipping product, Palette Desktop, is a Mac desktop application (with a Windows waitlist) that lets teams run AI agents directly on the local and locally synced shared folders they already use, including folders synced via Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and iCloud. Supported agents include Palette's own agent plus Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Mistral Vibe; provider access and subscription requirements vary by agent. The app adds a review step so changes can be inspected before they are saved back to files.

The company positions the product for non-engineering functions — founders, product, go-to-market and operations — applying agent-based workflows familiar from software engineering to planning, research, roadmaps and specs, account briefs, campaigns, outreach, document analysis, reporting and process documentation. A second, in-development product, Palette OS, is described as a company-wide layer connecting company context, shared skills, handoffs and agent work across teams, tools and AI sessions, including a Context Library that turns selected company activity and check-ins into scoped context accessible to people and to supported agents via a Palette connector or MCP. Palette's stated thesis is separating underlying models from a company's internal context, workflows and knowledge, so teams can swap models and providers without rebuilding how they work. The company markets EU hosting with optional EU-only processing (US models supported), zero data retention across available models, authorization-scoped access, GDPR processes with a DPA available, and states that ISO 27001 certification is underway.

Founding story

Palette was founded in 2025 in Copenhagen by four co-founders described in press coverage as repeat founders: Lars Ettrup (CEO, previously co-founder of Linkfire), Christian Lomholt (CPO, previously VP of Product & Design at Podimo and product leadership roles at Planday), Steffen Sommer (CTO, previously CTO at Monstarlab) and Brian Kyed (CCO, previously co-founder of Airtame, where he served as CPO and CRO). An April 2026 blog post, "Why We're Building Palette," framed the company as a shared context layer intended to give teams and AI one living map of how an organization works.

Business model

Palette sells software directly to companies on a flat organization-wide subscription rather than per seat. A free tier (€0/month) offers unlimited users and 200 Palette credits (roughly 200 messages); the Team plan is advertised at €149/month as an intro deal with unlimited users and unlimited credits. Usage is metered in credits shared across the organization; running Palette's own agent in the cloud consumes credits, while running a model locally or using a customer's own Claude, Codex, Gemini or Mistral subscription does not, and Palette states it adds no markup on that third-party usage. Prices are quoted in EUR excluding VAT, billed monthly or annually at the start of each period with cancellation effective at period end.

Subscription revenue from a flat monthly organization-wide plan (€149/month intro price) plus credit-metered usage of Palette's own cloud agent, with a free entry tier; bring-your-own model subscriptions incur no Palette markup.

Traction

Palette Desktop is publicly downloadable for Mac and, per Tech.eu, available to paying customers, while Palette OS is in use with design partners and has a waitlist. The website carries named testimonials from practitioners at Airtame, Lab08, Bigger Picture, KIN AI, Abtion and Comundo. No user, revenue or customer-count figures are disclosed in the sources.

Latest developments

On 11 August 2026 Palette announced a €3M pre-seed round led by Ugly Duckling Ventures with Emblem, Acadian Ventures and angels, to be used to expand sales operations and the team and to continue developing and rolling out the platform; Dealroom reported the amount as $3.4M. Palette Desktop launched in May 2026, and Palette OS, including the Context Library, connector gateway and shared skills, remains in development with design partners.
