Alumni Q&A

What's the history of your company from getting started until the present day? What were the big inflection points?
Caribou began as rebank (YC W19), an open banking product for global businesses that integrated banks across Europe and the US, enabled international payments, and consolidated financial metrics in one dashboard. Building rebank showed the founders that companies were going global earlier than law and accounting firms could support, leading to the 2024 pivot to Caribou.
What is the core problem you are solving? Why is this a big problem? What made you decide to work on it?
Even small startups now operate across borders (for example, a Delaware C-Corp with a UK subsidiary and contractors in several countries) and are legally required to follow transfer pricing rules originally designed for large multinationals. Big Four firms charge six figures for this work while other accountants and lawyers often guess or skip it, leaving early-stage founders exposed to lost R&D credits, double taxation, and audits. Caribou uses AI to collect and structure business context, reducing work that took consultants months to minutes.
What is your long-term vision? If you truly succeed, what will be different about the world?
The founders aim to build an autonomous tax firm and make operating globally as frictionless as operating locally.
