Tooey Courtemanche is the founder and chairman of Procore, the construction-software company he started in 2002 and took public in 2021 at an $11.3 billion first-day valuation. A onetime journeyman carpenter from La Jolla who flunked out of the University of Arizona, he taught himself to code in 1990s San Francisco and built Procore to track his own Santa Barbara home remodel — then survived the 2008 crisis by mortgaging his house and cutting staff to about five. He handed the CEO role to former Ansys chief Ajei Gopal in November 2025, months before Procore agreed to buy DroneDeploy for about $845 million to accelerate its AI strategy.
