Sunil Puri was born in Mumbai, India, and emigrated to the United States in 1979. He founded First Rockford Group (now First Midwest Group) in 1984, a vertically integrated real estate developer, investor, and holding company with interests spanning retail, office, industrial, and residential real estate, as well as private equity and venture capital investments across multiple geographies. He earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Rockford College and attended executive education programs at London Business School, Harvard Business School, and the University of Chicago.
