Before founding HGGC, he played more than fifteen years in the NFL, primarily with the San Francisco 49ers, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005. He also founded and chairs the Forever Young Foundation and serves as broadcast host for the Children's Miracle Network.
