Michael Hengartner serves as a Scientific Advisor and Advisory Board Member for the Novalis Biotech Incubation Fund. He is president of the board of ETH in Zurich, Switzerland, and previously served as rector of the University of Zurich from 2014 to 2019. He earned his PhD in 1994 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under Nobel Laureate H. Robert Horvitz, led a research group at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory until 2001, and became a professor of molecular biology at the University of Zurich, where he also served as dean of the Faculty of Science from 2009 to 2014.
