About
Gordon Moore co-founded Intel with Robert Noyce in 1968 and served as CEO from 1975 to 1987, presiding over the shift from memory to microprocessors that made Intel the defining semiconductor company. His 1965 observation that transistor counts would double roughly every two years became Moore's Law, the planning assumption for half a century of computing. He was one of the traitorous eight who left Shockley to found Fairchild Semiconductor. He died in 2023.
