About
Eduardo Ortega-Barría is a Panamanian physician who studied medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara and trained in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases in Mexico City, followed by postdoctoral training in tropical medicine and parasitology at Tufts University School of Medicine. He held research and teaching roles at institutions including the Gorgas Memorial Institute, Indicasat AIP, the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, and George Washington University, and from 2006 to 2020 served as vice president and director of medical affairs and clinical R&D for vaccines in Latin America and the Caribbean at GlaxoSmithKline. He currently serves as National Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation of Panama.
