Investment thesis
The SRF supports large-scale, transformative projects that build economic resilience across key Canadian sectors such as steel, aluminum, automotive, forest products, critical minerals, aerospace, cleantech, biomanufacturing, life sciences, and AI. It focuses on three priorities: tariff response to help industries recover from U.S. tariffs, innovation through large-scale R&D and commercialization, and expanding AI compute infrastructure. Funding aims to help businesses modernize operations, invest in R&D, diversify into new markets, attract large-scale investments, collaborate with research institutions, and build workforce skills, ultimately protecting jobs and strengthening Canada's domestic capacity and global competitiveness.
