James R. Maher is a Real Estate Operating Partner to Sopris Capital and Managing Director of Sopris Real Estate, overseeing the firm's real estate investment platform. He previously was a Principal and head of acquisitions for the value-add real estate platform at Admiral Capital Group, and spent 13 years at BlackRock, leaving in 2014 as a Director on the Real Estate Equity team. He holds a B.A. from Brown University and an MS in Real Estate Finance from New York University.

Joined Sopris Capital in 2015 as a Partner focused on private equity investments, working across sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio support. He previously invested growth equity in technology and consumer companies at Morehead Capital and holds a B.S. in Business Administration from North Carolina State University.

Matthew Freeman joined Sopris Capital as an Analyst in 2025, working on cash flow modeling and portfolio company and fund analysis. Before Sopris, he worked with family offices and alternative investment groups on cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and fund-level analysis, including evaluating capital needs and analyzing portfolio performance. He holds a Finance degree with a focus on Investment Management from The University of Texas at Austin.

Alec Webster joined Sopris Private Equity in 2023 as a Senior Associate. He previously worked at Partners Group in its healthcare private equity unit and at Jefferies in investment banking and fixed income, and holds a B.A. in History from the University of Virginia.

Alex Paul joined Sopris Private Equity in 2021 as a Vice President. He previously was an Associate at Enhanced Healthcare Partners and gained healthcare investing experience at Nexus Health Capital, holding a B.A. in Economics from Trinity College and an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University.

Bob Mosteller joined Sopris Capital in 2022 as Chief Financial Officer, bringing more than 25 years of experience in CFO and COO roles across venture capital, private equity, financial services, and technology companies. He previously served as CFO at Silver Creek Ventures, Teakwood Capital, Talari Networks, and Armor Defense, and helped lead Talari Networks to its acquisition by Oracle while acting as an operating partner for Silver Creek Ventures. He holds a B.A. in Accounting from Texas A&M University.

Grace Richmond joined Sopris Capital in 2026, where she leads business development and works on investment sourcing and M&A strategy. She previously served as a Vice President of Business Development at Industrial Opportunity Partners and as an Investment Banking Analyst on Citigroup's Global Industrials team. She holds a B.A. in Economics and Art History from Boston College.

John Pujals joined Halifax in 2020 as Accounting Manager and handles financial reporting, accounting, and compliance. Before Halifax, he was a Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers serving private equity clients. He earned his BS and Master of Accounting from North Carolina State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Kennedy Quinn joined Sopris Capital in 2025 as the Executive Assistant to the Private Equity team. She previously worked as an administrative assistant at a wealth management firm in Oak Brook, Illinois. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Martin Gilkes joined Sopris Capital in 2025 as Head of Value Creation for its private equity strategy, focusing on building organizational capability and scaling operations at portfolio companies. He previously served nearly seven years as COO of a PE-backed ultra-low carbon renewable fuels developer, led strategic planning globally at Mattel, and worked at Bain Capital on diligence and value creation, having begun his career at the Boston Consulting Group. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a master's from the University of Oxford, and a bachelor's from MIT.

Rebeckah Doane joined Sopris Capital in 2022 as Executive Assistant to the CEO. She previously worked in the high-end hospitality industry as a lead concierge and concierge trainer, and earlier as a personal assistant for a TV producer and a sports business manager in Southern California. She holds a B.A. in Humanities from Pepperdine University.

Will Scherer is an Associate at Sopris Private Equity, which he joined in 2025. He was previously a private equity associate at Morgan Stanley Capital Partners and an analyst in Morgan Stanley's investment banking division, and started his career as an equity research analyst at Renaissance Capital. He holds a B.A. in Business, Entrepreneurship and Organizations from Brown University and an M.S. in Finance from Canisius College.
