Investment thesis
The firm was formed in response to a wave of VC/CVC funds reaching maturity from 2022 onward and the lengthening timeline from startup founding to IPO, which often exceeds a typical 10-year fund life. It primarily makes direct secondary investments in Japanese later-stage ventures with market caps around 10 billion yen and above and high IPO probability, acquiring shares mainly from follow-on investors (VCs, CVCs, corporates) to consolidate ownership and support growth alongside lead investors. It focuses on growth themes such as global, deep tech, DX, and energy, considers additional growth capital, pursues IPO or M&A exits, and applies SDGs/ESG and strict compliance screens. It is cautious on food service and bio/pharma, and excludes real estate, weapons, banks, and anti-social entities.
