GENIUS invests equity in technology-oriented micro and small companies based or substantially operating in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, during the seed, startup, and first expansion phases. It typically co-invests alongside independent private investors and can act as either lead or co-investor. Beyond capital, it actively supports company building, offers strategic advice, and provides its network. While open to all sectors under the region's innovation strategy, its focus areas are ICT, life sciences, environmental and energy technology, and mechanical engineering. Participations are minority equity stakes up to EUR 1.5M including follow-on financing, often combined with silent partnerships or convertible loans, with a typical exit horizon of 5-10 years.
