Investment thesis
The Discovery Fund was created to address inequities in the financial sector by backing underrepresented entrepreneurs focused on financial inclusion. It invests $5 million annually in early-stage fintech companies led by BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and women founders. The fund targets pre-seed, seed and Series A companies with a CEO from an underrepresented background, primarily serving U.S. consumers, writing checks of up to $1 million via equity and/or convertible debt. It acts as a syndicate rather than lead investor. Focus areas include liquidity management, credit access, wealth building, asset protection and financial literacy for low- and moderate-income members.
