Investment thesis
Cevian pursues a long-term, concentrated ownership strategy, acquiring substantial minority positions in European publicly-listed companies with leading market positions, strong cashflows and robust long-term demand that it views as overlooked, misunderstood or out-of-favor. It sees significant unrealized value-creation potential not reflected in share prices. After investing, Cevian works with boards and management on initiatives spanning operations, corporate strategy, organizational structure, financial management, governance and sustainability. Its team members typically join boards or nominating committees, and it commonly becomes the largest or second largest owner, holding for five or more years. Cevian maintains roughly 10-15 positions at a time, with an optimal investment size of EUR 500m to EUR 1.5bn per company.
