Africa Climate Ventures

James leads strategy, transactions, and operations at ACV. He previously co-founded Dalberg Advisors and its Africa business, later serving as Dalberg's Global Managing Partner and Executive Director, and founded the Climate Action Platform for Africa. He is an early investor and board member at Koko Networks, a director of Old Mutual, and board chair of One Acre Fund, and holds an economics degree from Harvard.

Mohamed leads fundraising and investing at ACV. He founded and was managing partner of Abacus Advisory in South Africa, contributing to the country's National Treasury strategy, and is a long-time early-stage investor who chairs the board of fintech MFS Africa. He holds an MBA from Bond University and a diploma from the University of Oxford.

Kemi works with ACV's partners on fundraising, investment strategy, and portfolio value creation. She was previously an investment manager at Alitheia Capital leading the West Africa team for the uMunthu I & II funds, with over a decade of experience across private equity, venture capital, and banking.

Scott identifies, screens, and builds new venture opportunities in ACV's venture studio. He was previously a senior project manager at Dalberg advising on climate issues and served as a Green Fellow, with work presented at COP26. He holds a Master's in Applied Economics from the University of Cape Town.

Bilha focuses on technical carbon removals and Great Carbon Valley. She co-founded Jacob's Ladder Africa, served as CEO of the African Leadership Academy, and expanded Africa's Talking into 20 markets as CEO. She holds an electrical engineering degree from MIT.

Doreen was ACV's first venture partner, focused on building KOKO Networks Rwanda, and now sits on its executive team overseeing public affairs and partnerships. She previously consulted at Dalberg, founded cold-storage startup KivuCold, and holds an MSc in Global Logistics from Arizona State University.

Jermaine is a secondee at ACV from Dalberg Advisors, working on fundraising materials, valuation models, and supporting African ventures. He previously worked at the Institute for Small Business Initiatives and holds a BSc in Finance from Strathmore University.
