Investment thesis
The 1842 Fund co-creates and invests in startups aligned with Notre Dame's mission to become the leading global Catholic research institution. Beyond providing capital, it acts as an extension of founding teams, recruiting experienced operators, providing meaningful early capitalization, and convening networks of customers, investors, talent, experts, and partners to build durable advantages. It sources opportunities through two paths: faculty, student, and community innovations emerging from Notre Dame's Commercialization Engine, and a venture studio that builds and accelerates software startups tackling societal challenges. The fund focuses on inception and pre-seed stage ventures.
