What does AUM mean for a venture firm?
Assets under management is the total capital a firm manages across its active funds. Regulatory AUM (from ADV filings) counts gross assets under formal definitions and is the comparable public number for US advisers.
AUM measures scale, not skill β and in venture, scale cuts both ways: fees grow with AUM whether or not returns do, and very large funds need very large outcomes to move their multiple.
