WorkFlex

WorkFlex operates a software platform that automates legal and regulatory compliance for cross-border work, covering short business trips, temporary work-from-anywhere periods (workations) and long-term international assignments. Its compliance risk engine assesses each trip against tax, social security, immigration and labour law rules and then executes the resulting filings, including A1 certificates and Certificates of Coverage, Posted Worker Directive notifications, travel authorisations such as ESTA, visa and work permit applications, and permanent establishment and wage tax exposure assessments, producing audit-ready documentation for each cross-border work event.

The product is organised into modules for business trips, workations, assignments, visa and immigration, and WorkFlex SOS. The assignments module adds cost projections and balance sheets, permits and ongoing monitoring, and repatriation planning; the workations module runs instant risk assessments, automatic A1 filings and workday tracking with policy-based approvals. WorkFlex SOS provides duty-of-care support through a 24/7 emergency line staffed by people, live traveller check-ins, destination threat levels and real-time risk alerts, with automatic restriction of trips to areas at extreme threat level. The platform also offers integrations with HR information systems to synchronise data and automate employee request and approval workflows.

Automation is combined with an in-house expert organisation of more than 150 specialists in tax, legal, immigration, security, medicine and compliance who create, manage and sign off the underlying compliance logic. Named specialists include a Dutch tax lawyer and co-founder with prior PwC experience, a certified lawyer formerly at EY and Audi, an immigration lead formerly at EY and CIBT, and a travel risk and crisis specialist with a military background. Each trip is backed by up to €5M of liability cover rather than a disclaimer.

Founding story

WorkFlex was created to replace slow and expensive legal processes for international travel compliance with a platform that handles A1 certificates, posted worker notifications, visas, tax exposure and duty of care automatically, so that employers can focus on international business opportunities rather than compliance risk. Co-founder Pieter Manden is a Dutch tax lawyer formerly at PwC; Patrick Koch is the other named co-founder.

WorkFlex sells a B2B platform to employers, positioning itself as an alternative to standalone compliance software, Big 4 and law firm advisory work, or building an in-house global mobility team. Latest developments

In March 2026 WorkFlex announced a €37 million growth investment led by Spectrum Equity, with additional support from Visionaries Club and s16vc, to accelerate European expansion, further develop the automated compliance platform, scale crisis-response tooling and move into adjacent areas of mobility risk management. The company was concurrently hiring across compliance, product, engineering, marketing and sales, including AI-focused engineering roles.
