Tandem Health

Tandem Health is a Stockholm-based healthcare software company founded in 2023 that develops an AI medical assistant, marketed as "Tandem", for clinical documentation and workflows. The assistant listens during a patient consultation, captures relevant medical details and generates structured clinical notes and other documents such as referrals, sick notes and visit summaries. Founding story

The founders framed the company around the observation that clinicians spend roughly 40% of their time on administration and that a large share of global healthcare spending goes to administrative work, at a time of rising costs, clinician shortages and an ageing population. CEO Lukas Saari previously led McKinsey's Nordic AI and digitisation practice and worked on machine learning at Spotify; CCO Oscar Boldt-Christmas spent two decades in European healthcare as a McKinsey senior partner; CTO Oliver Åstrand built AI systems at Google X, Uber, Depict and Mavenoid.

Through the Accurx partnership, Accurx Scribe powered by Tandem is available to more than 200,000 NHS staff in the UK. An evaluation of 375,000 clinical notes from 1,295 clinicians at Capio reported a 29% reduction in documentation time, a median editing time of 93 seconds per note, over 90% of clinicians wanting to continue use and over 84% recommending it to colleagues. The company states clinicians can save up to two hours per day on administrative work.

Latest developments

Following the 2025 Series A, the company said it would expand across existing markets and into new ones such as Italy, invest in product development, and build toward an "AI-native operating system" for clinics covering pre-visit patient history summarisation, medical coding, point-of-care decision support and post-visit patient summaries and care coordination. Plans announced in mid-2025 included a GDPR-compliant medical question-answering feature and agentic capabilities to route generated documents to recipients. A Clinical Decision Support product, CE marked under EU MDR Class IIa, was being offered via early access, and the company reported hiring across product, operations and go-to-market.
