Pocmi

POCMI (short for "Piece Of Cake Migration", also presented as "Peace + Innovation") is a SaaS marketplace for global labor migration that combines the selection, relocation and integration of foreign professionals in a single platform. It connects vetted global talent with employers willing to hire across borders, with migration steps embedded throughout the hiring workflow, under the positioning "Hire Internationally. Work Locally. Lead Globally."

The platform is built around three user groups: individuals ready to move (high-skilled and essential workers, international students, refugees and people with protected status, and returning citizens); employers hiring globally, who get access to a vetted, relocation-ready talent pool plus tools for background checks, skill verification and interview readiness; and HR and labor-migration partners, who use workflow, tracking and compliance features to manage expatriates, repatriates and refugees at scale. At launch in 2017 the product offered an applicant tracking system and candidate search platform, with free job listings open to foreign nationals during a public beta. The company states its goals include reducing illegal migration, brain drain, labor shortages and work trafficking, while supporting reintegration of displaced citizens and job creation. As of the current website, POCMI is paused while the platform is rebuilt.

Founding story

Founder Melissa Powell, a Jamaican technology entrepreneur based between Kingston and New York, developed the concept over several years before launching Pocmi.com, with the mission of improving recruiting in a globalized world through an end-to-end platform for employers and workers to connect, evaluate and facilitate immigration of knowledge workers. Her path included relocating abroad twice, starting multiple businesses, and setbacks such as losing nearly $100,000 to developers who did not deliver.
