- The two founders, Ben and Brian, met at the 2015 Speech & Debate Nationals before starting at Stanford, where they became friends and are now roommates in San Francisco. Ben earned a master's in computer science and worked as an applied machine learning researcher in a Stanford lab, while Brian earned a bachelor's in engineering and worked as a product manager on early AI adoption in industry. They started the company after observing companies struggle to adapt general-purpose chat models to their specific use cases.
