Casper

Casper is a public, permissionless, decentralized smart-contract blockchain platform that uses a proof-of-stake consensus algorithm and WebAssembly (Wasm) for contract execution. The network is positioned as a "real-world-ready" chain for tokenized real assets, regulated markets and machine-to-machine use cases. Core protocol features described by the project include ZUG consensus, native access controls, upgradable smart contracts, a multi-VM architecture, developer tooling and an AI toolkit.

Casper's published multi-year roadmap, referred to as the Casper Manifest, covers EVM compatibility, smart accounts, AI micropayments, transaction privacy and quantum-safe cryptography. Product and ecosystem offerings include the Casper Wallet, liquid staking, the CSPR.name naming service, the CSPR.trade decentralized exchange, a bridge, NFT minting and trading applications, and the csprUSD stablecoin. Institution-facing offerings cover real-world asset tokenization, building for regulated markets and a product called ProofLayer.

The network is overseen by the Casper Association, a Switzerland-domiciled not-for-profit organization whose membership is made up of independent validators running nodes on the network. The project maintains documentation for concepts, developers, node operators and end users, and publishes a MiCA report.

Business model

The network uses the CSPR token, which is traded on global exchanges and can be staked, liquid-staked and swapped by holders. Casper runs a grant program and buildathons to support third-party builders.

The ecosystem directory lists projects across DEX, NFT, gaming, SDK, on/off-ramp, explorer, centralized exchange, bridge, tooling, wallet and DeFi categories, including Liquid Staking, CSPR.trade, CSPR.name, Tangem, Xp.Network, Uphold, Ramp, Ledger, KuCoin, Friendly Market, CSPR.cloud and crypto.com. CSPR is listed on Kraken and Kraken Pro for eligible U.S. users. Applications live on mainnet include the CSPR.trade DEX and the Parking Blox MVP, which records parking revenue on-chain.
