Budibase

Budibase is an open-source operations platform used to build AI agents, internal applications and automated workflows. Its product spans four main building blocks: agents that answer employee questions and handle requests across channels such as Slack, Discord and Microsoft Teams; an app builder for internal tools with a drag-and-drop screen designer and 40+ pre-built components; a data layer combining the built-in Budibase DB with connections to external databases, spreadsheets, REST APIs and business systems; and an automation builder for approvals, routing, notifications and other operational workflows using 20+ triggers and action steps.

The platform can be self-hosted on a customer's own infrastructure via Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, DigitalOcean, Portainer or Windows Server, or consumed as a managed service through Budibase Cloud. Enterprise-oriented capabilities include custom RBAC, SSO and SAML, Active Directory/SCIM, user groups, environment variables, backups and restore, audit logs, log retention up to 365 days, air-gapped deployment as an add-on, and a public API that allows Budibase to be used as a backend. Agent functionality covers tool calling, evaluation of agent behaviour, knowledge sources backed by vector databases, and the option to bring your own AI model provider keys or use Budibase AI credits. The company states it is ISO 27001 certified.

The codebase is a lerna-managed monorepo comprising a Svelte-based builder application, a browser client library that renders apps from JSON definitions, and a Koa-based server. Budibase is licensed as GPL v3, with the client and component libraries under MPL and paid features under the Business Source License.
