Thomas A. Rando, M.D., PhD., directs the Broad Stem Cell Research Center at the University of California, Los Angeles, and serves as Professor of Neurology and Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. His laboratory studies the biology of stem cell function in degenerative diseases and aging, including work using heterochronic parabiosis to examine reversal of age-related changes in stem cell function. He has received the NIH Director's Pioneer Award and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
