Scott Shleifer is an American hedge fund manager who co-founded the private equity investing business of Tiger Global Management. Raised in suburban Portland, Oregon, where his family ran Shleifer Furniture, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1999 and then worked as an analyst at Blackstone for three years. He joined Tiger Global in the early 2000s and helped build out its private equity and venture capital investing, expanding aggressively including in China. After Lee Fixel's 2019 departure, Shleifer took over as head of the firm's private equity portfolios and oversaw a period of rapid, large-scale investing, including funds that grew to billions of dollars in commitments. In November 2023 he stepped down from his leadership role and became a full-time senior advisor, continuing to sit on the firm's private equity investment committee. He has an estimated net worth in the billions and is known for a $122.7 million Palm Beach home purchase in 2021.
