About
Nir Barzilai is Director of the Institute for Aging Research and a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and serves as Principal Investigator at the Nathan Shock and Glenn centers. He leads the EXCEL Study, which aims to recruit centenarians and their families to identify longevity genes, and the TAME study, which tests whether aging-related conditions can be delayed in humans using metformin. He has authored over 290 peer-reviewed papers, received the NIH Merit Award, the Irving S. Wright Award (2010), and the IPSEN Longevity Award (2018), and wrote the book "Age Later" (2020).
