Michael (Mike) Abbott is an engineering leader, entrepreneur, and investor who has built and scaled products and infrastructure for both consumers and enterprises. Before venture investing, he led software development at Twitter, where he grew the engineering team and rebuilt the company's infrastructure, and previously led Palm's webOS software team and served as a general manager at Microsoft for .NET online services, which became Azure. He co-founded Passenger Inc. and founded Composite Software, and advised companies including Cloudera and Jawbone. In 2011 he joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers as a partner on its digital team, focusing on social, mobile, and cloud investments. He later served as VP Engineering of Apple Cloud Services and as Executive Vice President of Software and Services at General Motors. He co-founded Open Athena and is a lecturer in Stanford University's computer science department, and has expertise in enterprise infrastructure, security, distributed systems, cloud computing, and blockchain.
