Makhtar Diop has served as Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation since March 2021, focusing on private sector-led development in emerging markets, with priorities including infrastructure, digital economy, healthcare, renewable energy, financial inclusion, and climate resilience. He previously held roles as the World Bank's Vice President for Infrastructure (2018–2021) and Vice President for Africa, and earlier served as Senegal's Minister of Economy and Finance, in addition to positions at the IMF and in banking. He holds economics degrees from the Universities of Warwick and Nottingham in England.
