Before joining Sofinnova in 2008, he was President of Research and Development at Elan, having earlier held R&D leadership at Schwarz Pharma AG and various senior scientific and clinical roles at Pharmacia (now Pfizer). He earned his MD and PhD from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and is a board-certified surgeon with a PhD in Experimental Biology.
