She earned a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Illinois at Chicago after founding the not-for-profit start-up Brain Chemistry Labs early in her career. She previously held licensing and business development roles at UIC, Caltech, and Mass General Brigham, and later established a biotech incubator and proof-of-concept fund at Tufts University while also directing new ventures at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
