Annie Duke is an author, speaker, and decision-making consultant who spent two decades as a professional poker player, winning more than $4 million in tournament play, a World Series of Poker bracelet, the WSOP Tournament of Champions, and the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship before retiring from the game in 2012. She studied Cognitive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania on a National Science Foundation Fellowship and completed her PhD there in 2023. She writes and teaches about decision making under uncertainty, with books including the bestseller Thinking in Bets, How to Decide, and Quit: The Power of Knowing When to Walk Away. She now serves as a Special Partner focused on Decision Science at seed-stage venture fund First Round Capital Partners and co-founded the nonprofit Alliance for Decision Education.
