Aaron J. Kowalski is Chief Executive Officer of Breakthrough T1D, a global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization formerly known as JDRF, which he joined in 2004 and where he previously served as Chief Mission Officer. He has authored articles on T1D research, including an artificial pancreas roadmap adopted by the diabetes industry and a New England Journal of Medicine study on continuous glucose monitors, and has advised Congress, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on T1D therapy access and regulation. Diagnosed with T1D at age 13, he holds a doctorate in microbiology and molecular genetics from Rutgers University and has completed 20 marathons.
