Investment thesis
The Tony Elumelu Foundation champions youth entrepreneurship across Africa as a driver of poverty eradication, job creation, and inclusive economic empowerment. Its mission is rooted in Africapitalism, the belief that the private sector and entrepreneurs are the catalysts for the social and economic development of the continent. Through its Entrepreneurship Programme, TEF selects entrepreneurs with high-potential business ideas across all 54 African countries, providing non-returnable seed capital of $5,000 each, business management training, and mentorship via its TEFConnect digital platform. Since 2015 the Foundation has funded more than 27,000 young Africans, disbursing up to $135 million in seed capital, and contributes to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
