Investment thesis
Thayer Street targets lower middle market businesses with predictable growth, highly recurring revenue, strong unit economics and scalable models, often as the first institutional capital. It invests through preferred equity and other structured securities offering contractual protections, governance and aligned upside, and also finances repeatable, high-volume M&A and asset-origination platforms in fragmented markets. The firm concentrates on financial services (payments, receivables financing, insurance, specialty finance), business services (compliance, data, emergency response, security) and real estate services (route-based home and facility services, storage, property management). It makes a limited number of control and non-control investments per year and emphasizes long-term, founder-friendly partnerships with hands-on operational support.
