TIA is mandated to stimulate and intensify technological innovation in South Africa in order to improve economic growth and quality of life. As an active funder, connector, facilitator and enabler, it provides risk funding and support for innovators to progress ideas toward market entry and commercialisation, catalyses partnerships between SMMEs, industries, universities and science councils, attracts late-stage funding for market-ready technologies, and reduces barriers to high-end skills and equipment through Technology Stations and Platforms. It funds sectors including advanced manufacturing, agriculture, energy, health, ICT, indigenous knowledge systems, industrial biotech and natural resources.
