Skolkovo operates as a national innovation ecosystem that supports Russian high-tech startups through a suite of client-oriented services, including acceleration programs, support for private investors and university startups, foreign patenting, and customs assistance for exports and imports. As part of the VEB.RF group of development institutions, it works alongside other state development bodies to strengthen the Russian economy. The center hosts Skoltech, a research university ranked among the world's top-100 young universities, and the largest technopark in Eastern Europe. By mid-2025 it counted over 5,000 resident startups and roughly 118,000 jobs in its ecosystem.
