Investment thesis
Madica invests in pre-seed-stage, mission-driven founders across Africa, aiming to close the structural gaps that hold back innovation and entrepreneurship on the continent. Each startup receives an investment of up to $200,000 plus 18 months of individualized (non-cohort) support including mentorship, executive coaching, peer learning, immersion trips, and access to global networks and investors. Target companies have an MVP, ideally some paying customers, have raised little or no institutional capital, operate in Africa, and are led by full-time local founders. By backing underrepresented and underfunded founders, Madica seeks to lower risk perception, attract more capital, and inspire more entrepreneurs.

4DI Ventures was co-founded by repeat tech operator and ESET Southern Africa founder Justin Stanford, giving it unusually deep cybersecurity and software operating experience rather than a purely financial background, and originated from Stanford's own angel-investing experiments that directly led to both the firm's creation and the launch of the Silicon Cape Initiative. The firm explicitly describes its style as "nurture capital" with intensive, hands-on engagement, and Stanford is vocal about avoiding the "unicorn at all costs" mentality in African tech, instead emphasizing sustainable market readiness and fundamentals in a more conservative, durability-focused investment approach.
